Mane Attraction

Beauty professionals near and far were “dye”-ing to attend IBS Las Vegas this past weekend. IBS Las Vegas, an international beauty show, was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center the weekend of June 25th, 2016. The 3-day trade show is held every year and is only open to people in beauty related professions and cosmetology students.

Over 20,000 beauty professionals attend every year as both guests and exhibitors. The show is filled with a plethora of opportunities to learn from hair and makeup experts like competitions, classes, and performances. Attendees can choose from more than 100 classes to go to and 350 brands to purchase product from. A few of the classes offered include Long Hair Boot Camp, 3D Nail Art, Lashes 101, and Secrets of the Best Stylists in America. While the classes are free to attend with the admission ticket, guests can pay additional fees to attend more comprehensive master classes and hands-on workshops. Pixel Perfection Bridal Makeup, Graffiti Makeup Techniques, Donna Bella Hair Extensions, and Balayage Hair Painting are just a few of the master classes offered at the show. A full schedule from this year’s show can be found here. Nicole Peck, the marketing director of the show, explains that “IBS Las Vegas exists to provide professionals with new tools, techniques, new skills that they can put into practice tomorrow.”

Throughout the show, attendees can find booths for various exhibitors as well as smaller stages set up for demonstrations. If the thrill of getting discounted products and watching professionals demonstrate their techniques doesn’t satisfy guests, they can also check out the main stage where performances are held nearly every half hour. Peck describes the demonstrations as one of the best parts of the show, “One of our greatest assets is our roster of amazing and inspirational educators. We have great classroom education, amazing hands-on education, and inspirational main stage performances.” One of the demonstrations on the main stage this year featured two hair stylists revealing their hair painting techniques for the audience to see as well as displaying a new product designed to help stylists with their balayage techniques. Exciting competitions are also held between companies where they can show off their talents whether they specialize in hair, nail, or makeup related fields.

People fly in from all over the country to get a chance to participate in the event and show off their skills. A few of the companies that exhibit at IBS Las Vegas include Conair, Morphe Brushes, Ardell Lashes, Olaplex, and China Glaze. These beauty companies display their products and services at IBS as a way to educate and reach their audience as well as propel their businesses. According to IBS, 96% of the attendees purchase products, 89% stop at booths for education purposes, and 86% choose products for future use. The products are set at special prices for professionals to purchase and many of the models used in demonstrations even get lucky enough to take home a few free products to try.

Although the show has already wrapped up this year, it is set to come back next year on June 24th. If you are interested in taking a further look into this event check out this video to see what the show is all about. Or check out a few additional photos from this year’s show here.

I originally clicked on your post because I thought it had something to do with lions or wildlife, lol but nonetheless your I love the wittiness of the blog title and as other stated, puns are always enjoyable! Your post was super informative about IBS and it’s great that you broke it down into specifics. Workshops are the best parts of conventions so I like how you also mentioned all the different classes and linked the schedule, that’s super convenient! It’s pretty awesome having our own convention hall here in Las Vegas that brings in millions of people throughout the year for a variety of occasions.

I’m a sucker for puns and I love that you incorporated that into your blog post! This was a really fascinating article for me. I am a front desk receptionist at an eyelash extension studio so I am surrounded by many licensed cosmetologists. They always talk about events like this and it was nice hearing about it more in-depth. The quotes from professionals were a really nice touch because it adds even more credibility to your already well-written article!
