My name is Claudia M, and I am currently a Broadcast journalism major at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I earned my Associate of Arts in Journalism/Media Studies at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in May 2010. During the Spring semester that same year, I completed my internship at the Spanish newspaper El Tiempo, where I had the opportunity to cover events and get my articles published. I also translated press releases for the section “Notas Comunitarias” (Community Notes). In addition, I translated crime articles from the Review Journal for the section “Notas Policiacas” (Police Notes).

Once I started UNLV, I decided to challenge myself by switching my concentration from print to broadcast journalism. Then, I decided to apply for UNLV TV, where I get the opportunity to do different things such as camara operator, techical director, teleprompter, and so on. Furthermore, I recently was given the opportunity to produce a show geared towards Latino high school students to encourage them to finish college. Next year I may also produce a documentary on how to organize a multimillion national conference, so I’m looking forward to that.

With my experience and the opportunities coming to me, I believe I will accomplish one of my dreams: Create and build a TV production company. For this reason, I will take advantage of technology as much as I can to make a strong combination between my journalism knowledge and Web design skills. So I am ready for the next challenge!
