For my photo gallery, I decided to post pictures of a hike I went on about a week ago. I love hiking and go a lot, with my dog and whoever I can convince to come. People are often weary, and don’t realize how many beautiful hikes there are around the city. Often, I am shocked by what I see, as it’s crazy seeing nature in such a light, knowing the strip isn’t too far away. So.. Last week my friend Jen, I, and my dog, Paye, set out for a hike in Mount Charleston. We decided on Cathedral Rock, a 1.5 hike, which is moderate to strenuous. It was about one hour outside of Vegas, and not too hard to find, but parking was a little difficult, as the free lot was pretty much filled up. Luckily, we got the last spot and set out on the hike. The trail leading to the main trail is steep and rocky, but once you get to the top, worth it. The weather was perfect, breezy so not too hot. As you go along the hike, there are random patches of snow, which is crazy to see, as it was starting to feel hot about twenty feet earlier. One of the many wonders of nature, I suppose. I knew I wanted to use this for my journalism photo gallery, so I kept my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 close by, ready to take some photos! I absolutely love this camera, I got it for Christmas, and it has stayed in my purse ever since, ready to capture whatever I see. It’s small and sleek, but is 14.1 megapixels, and takes pictures, panoramas, and videos. I’ve gone through several cameras, and this touchscreen one is one of my favorites! Unfortunately, there is a water spot on several of the pictures, but it is still easy to see the beauty the lens and I were trying to capture! I’ve done several other hikes in the mountains out here, as well as Red Rock, and Cathedral Rock was definitely a good one. The views are spectacular, and the trail isn’t too strenuous, although my dog was begging to be carried by the end. Everyone should go check out my Flickr album and look at the different pictures! You’ll be surprised what is around our city.
