Sitting by the pool and barbecuing is a Fourth of July tradition for most families around the Las Vegas valley. With weather.com estimating the high on Fourth of July to be 108 degrees, it is difficult to find foods to help you stay cool and festive at the same time. However, Pinterest has some great ideas on how to make your favorite Fourth of July Foods festive.

  •  Instead of throwing a bunch of fruit in a bowl to make a regular fruit salad, have some fun and go all out with the red and blue fruits. There isn’t a correct way to do this so feel free to add your own touches to it. However, I would use a star shaped cookie cutter to shape the watermelon into stars. Once that is done, add as many blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and bananas to a bowl and there you have it a patriotic fruit salad! Another fun thing to do is make fruit kabobs, Fourth of July style of course. Take your watermelon stars and any other fruits of your choice and add them to a skewer. The skewers are perfect for saving bowls and easy to walk around with on a busy Fourth of July day.

  •  How fun does this “independence punch” drink look? Your family or guests are going to love this festive beverage! The best thing about it is that it is so easy to make. All you need is cranberry juice, blue Powerade or Gatorade, sparkling water and then top it off with some ice.

  • Another fun and easy treat that I make every year for Fourth of July is star-shaped Jell-o  in red and blue. This is the easiest snack to make the night before and have ready for when when you are just hanging out by the pool.

Can’t get enough of these fun ideas? Be sure to check out my Pinterest board for more ways to incorporate red, white and blue into your favorite foods.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July!
