Entertainment keeps the Las Vegas Strip relevant. From the musicals to the live bands and dance groups, millions come to Las Vegas to see these live acts. Although all of the talent on stage is why people come to these shows, the people behinds the scenes is often where the magic happens.
Enter Josh Conway, 41. An avid musician and long time sound designer and engineer for some big acts on the Las Vegas Strip. Conway has been the sound engineer for Blue Man Group (both at the Luxor and Venetian), Elton John, Celine Dion, and most recently Shania Twain, all at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Conway has also mixed a few shows at the new venue the Brooklyn Bowl, located at the Linq shopping center.
“I love working in live entertainment and have always had a fascination for music and the way sound works,” Conway says, who grew up in Washington D.C. and moved to Las Vegas to pursue his career. The path landed him a few gigs working bands locally when he got his foot in with Blue Man Group at the Luxor.
Besides working as the engineer on live shows along the Las Vegas Strip, Conway also owns his own recording company, using his own complex audio rig to record bands around town, both in live and in the studio.
Conway also repairs guitars on the side, and has a nice collection himself, as well as a drum set and an upright piano in his home.
“Music is my inspiration,” Conway said, “It what I love so much about working with bands and mixing music.”
Conway, a first time father to his 2 year old son Kiran says he hopes to one day be able to share his passion with his son.
“We already got him a little drum set and guitar and he loves it. I can’t wait to see if music becomes a big part of his life,” Conway says.

I shot all of these photos with my HTC One m8, and although it isn’t a traditional camera, the smartphone is the most accessible form of photo taking people have and is quickly becoming a large part of our media today. Josh is my neighbor and has been a huge influence on me and has helped me on my path to become an engineer.
