With Fourth of July right around the corner, you may find yourself hosting a BBQ or backyard bash in honor of our country’s birthday. While everyone loves a get together, no one wants to get stuck footing the bill. Although you can’t get around the cost of food, what can really break your budget is expensive holiday décor.
Luckily, this dilemma can easily be solved with a little DIY. In this video I will take you through the steps to make the perfect Firecracker decoration on a dime. Here’s what I used:
1 Empty toilet paper roll
2 Pieces of different color scrap book paper
One piece cut to 5in. x 3in. (topper)
One piece cut to 6in. x 5 ½ in. (tube)
1 Party decoration
Cut to about 15in. long
1 paper clip
Hot glue gun for construction
You can find all of these items at your local craft store.
Wrap the 6in. x 5 ½in. paper around the toilet paper roll and glue at the seam.
Fold the other piece of paper into a cone, glue at the seam, and trim the excess off the bottom to create a straight line
String your precut twine through the top or the cone and tie a paper clip to the end
Fold over the bottom of the party decoration and place inside the tube. Then, secure the folded over end to the twine that is sticking out of the bottom of the cone.
Glue the inside of the cone, then press the cone onto the tube – holding for a few seconds to make sure it’s firmly attached
Hang and enjoy!
With just a few steps and a short material list, anyone can make this fun, simple firecracker decoration! Make just a few to place over the dessert table, or go all out and hang them everywhere!
Happy Fourth of July!
