Wicked. Beauty and the Beast the Musical. American Idiot. West Side Story. All broadway shows coming to the Las Vegas’ Smith’s Center this Fall 2012 to 2013.

The growing arts center is bringing some of the most popular musicals to its stage. The Smith’s Center is envisioned as a world-class performing arts center that would develop and present the best and brightest in a broad range of first-rate programming and unite the residents in the Las Vegas Community. I had the opportunity to see PSY 7 Fingers at the Smith’s Center in May. This performance showcased acrobatics and entertainment while incorporating the human psyche. This show was just one of the few shows that has opened up the Smith’s Center to the arts community in Downtown Las Vegas.

This upcoming fall, the Smith’s Center has some of the best, in my opinion, broadway shows performing on stage. Wicked is a story about  the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. Elphaba, Wicked Witch of the West, is a misunderstood, victimized person whose behavior is merely a reaction against the charlatan Wizard’s corrupt government. It also displays her relationship with the beautiful and ambitious Galinda Upland, who ultimately becomes Glinda the Good Witch of the North.

Another one of my favorite musicals is Beauty and the Beast the Musical. It is an original Disney movie turned into a successful broadway musical in New York City and around the world.

These upcoming broadway shows will bring a lot of attraction to Downtown Las Vegas. The growing Arts District in the downtown area has been growing rapidly with the World Trade Center being built to the opening of the Smith’s Center to all the successful performing arts’ shows.

I can’t wait for this broadway season to start at the Smith’s Center. I get the little taste of New York City’s Broadway atmosphere in our city. I really do love The Smith’s Center. Their mission statement is very true.

“To build and establish a high-quality performing arts center that is embraced by the community and recognized as a vital force by supporting artistic excellence, education, and inspiration for all.”
