Exploring My Neighborhood

View photo set here

As the obvious choice for a variety of dining and shopping options would be to visit the Las Vegas Strip, The District in Green Valley Ranch is an off the Strip option that contains many quality entertainment alternatives. Located roughly 20 minutes from the tourist trap of Las Vegas Blvd., The District offers an oasis for locals wishing to avoid the city’s usual hustle and bustle. With shopping, dining, and plenty of outdoor seating, The District is the perfect Henderson escape.

When considering a new restaurant to try, The District has a variety of options for tourists and locals. The location is doing a great job of incorporating trendier and newer restaurants and bars by recently introducing Whist and Due and Proper. Whist has quickly became a popular brunch spot due to the featured innovative menu and fair pricing. The interior is mostly contemporary which creates a desirable ambiance. Due and Proper has a similar feel but is more of a bar for young adults. Previously, The District did not contain a traditional bar spot which forced young Henderson locals to travel to The Strip or downtown whenever they desired to go out for a fun night. Now, with the addition of Due and Proper, Henderson twenty-something’s have a much closer option.

Additionally, The District contains a variety of privately owned as well as franchise stores. This prevents Henderson residents from having to drive 20 minutes to the nearest mall. Furthermore, a unique feature is the art studio Pinot’s Palette, which gives people 21 and over a painting tutorial while offering your choice of wine. The class is taught by an artist that breaks down a seemingly complicated painting into easy to follow steps. The District is also conveniently located across the street from the Green Valley Ranch Hotel and Casino, which offers additional entertainment including gambling and a movie theatre.

Very creative of you to cover a place outside of The Strip! I don’t make it out to Green Valley too often but I will have to come here next time I go shopping. It reminds me a lot of Downtown Summerlin. Vegas offers some of the best shopping centers I have ever seen and this post truly depicts that.

I love Green Valley Ranch!I used to live no more than 5 minutes away from it and just like you I use to go there with my family all the time. You’ve taken some really unique photos of the District, you definitely captured the simple beauty this place holds. My favorite place to go in there is Balboa pizza, it’s so yummy!I like how you noticed that the picture would’ve been better if it was taken at night because of the lights that they have there, however I do think the daytime shot is perfect. Great post!

I love your feature photo at the top of this post. I just think that the sculpture is just so interesting. Seeing it with its surroundings in the shopping center and some of the foliage just makes me feel like I’m peeking through and looking at it myself. I have never heard of The District since I am not originally from Las Vegas and I live closer to town. I am glad I read your blog because I can now look forward to exploring somewhere new.

I really like how you decided to do something outside of the obvious for this assignment. Being from the Centennial area of Vegas, I think I’ve been to the District once before, so it’s awesome to see a side of Vegas that I hardly knew existed! You’re picture set was also cool- it’s interesting to see structures like interesting architecture and statues against more delicate features like vegetation. Good job!

I think that it is great that you picked somewhere other than the strip. People who aren’t from here sometimes don’t realize that there is more to Las Vegas than just that. I really like your featured image. It shows the art and beauty that Green Valley Ranch has to offer.
